TIMMY KUSNIEREK SEPTEMBER 7, 2016 SoundCloud has made a coding error during some routine maintenance, and done something unthinkable:Private tracks were made visible on user profiles and feeds between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm UTC on Tuesday, September 6th. They’ve done their best to remedy the damage, resetting the secret links for all affected tracks, but who knows what’s been heard, and/or ripped from the site due to the mistake. So far, no leaks have surfaced on the internet, but SoundCloud promises they will “work hard to prevent it from happening in the future.”

Calvin Harris has fuelled rumours he will help Nicole Scherzinger judge singing hopefuls on British talent show The X Factor. It was reported last month (Aug16) that superstar DJ Calvin would be on hand to aid former Pussycat Dolls star Nicole in the Judges' Houses stage of the competition, as she decides who she should put through to the live shows. And in a video on his Snapchat, Calvin appeared to confirm the news. He began the clip by saying, "What's good?" before turning the camera to Nicole, who says: "I mean, we're just chilling at my villa here in the South of France." While Calvin acknowledged the luxurious property was "quite nice", neither he nor Nicole made any mention of being in the country for The X Factor. However, Roman Kemp, the son of Spandau Ballet legend Martin Kemp who is now working as The X Factor's digital presenter, then appeared to further confirm the claims by sharing a wide shot of the south of France location, with figures that look like Nicole and Calvin seen in the distance. If Calvin does join the talent series, it will mark the first time he has been on the show since 2009, when boss Simon Cowell banned him after a prank went wrong. As contestants John and Edward Grimes, known as Jedward, performed Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen, Calvin stormed the stage with a pineapple on top of his head to mock the pair's hairstyles. He ran away before security arrived to escort him off, but his actions are said to have infuriated Simon, who then banned him from appearing on the show in the future. Following the incident, Calvin defended his actions by claiming the stunt was an attempt to point out that Jedward were a novelty act competing on what was meant to be a "music show". In 2014, Calvin admitted he and Simon had a "mutual agreement to stay away from each other", adding: "As far as I’m aware, in fact definitely, I’m not allowed back on that show. Sadly that’s it for me and The X Factor." Usher's famous friends Stevie Wonder and Kelly Rowland joined the singer as he unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday (07Sep16).
The Yeah! hitmaker was honoured with the 2,588th pavement plaque, and he was surrounded by family, friends and fans on Hollywood Boulevard. In addition to Wonder and Rowland, Miguel, will.i.am, music moguls Terry Lewis and L.A. Reid, and Edgar Ramirez, his co-star in new boxing film Hands of Stone, were there to celebrate with Usher. The ceremony featured a speech from The Weinstein Co. co-chairman Harvey Weinstein, who gave the R&B star his first-ever big screen role in 1999 teen film She's All That and then cast him as Sugar Ray Leonard in his latest film. Weinstein praised Usher's talents, describing the star as a "triple-threat talent like a James Cagney or Michael Jackson" who could do everything. Usher joked, "This is the first time in history that I've ever come in 2,588th place - and it felt like number one." The singer, who was also joined by his mum and former manager Jonetta Patton, his wife Grace Miguel and two young sons, took the time to recognise everyone who had helped him on his journey to the Walk of Fame ceremony, saying, "I don’t just celebrate this moment by myself, I celebrate it with those people who invested in me, those people who loved me through my hard times. Mum, thank you for everything and all the people that you’ve actually helped to bring here. They wouldn’t be here if you didn’t recognise and make sure you selected the right people to be around and to help me be the man I am today and in this position." Usher also gave a shout out to the many fans who attended the ceremony as well as those all around the world, saying, "It's because of you that this shining star is here." "Now it's your responsibility to come down here every chance you get to shine my star," he joked. "That's the smallest thing that I could ask of you right now especially given the fact that I’m going to be walked on." Watch Grandmaster Flash’s Lecture on the Development of Hip-Hop DJingPosted by Anthony Polis Grandmaster Flash (credit: grandmasterflash.com) DJ and hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash recently gave a lecture at New York’s Hot 97 on the development of hip-hop DJing. The presentation came just one week after the debut ofThe Get Down, a new Netflix series that explores the rise of hip-hop in the late ’70s. The hour-long lecture focused on Flash’s technical contributions to hip-hop DJing, including the “peek-a-boo” system, which combined a microphone mixer, preamps, and a studio mixer. As Scratch DJ Academy’s book On the Record states: “this new setup enabled [Grandmaster Flash] to preview the combined sound of two records through headphones before it went through the speakers.” Flash also explained and demonstrated his “quick mix theory,” which was made possible by the peek-a-boo system. Quick mixing enabled Flash to extend the drum break of a song indefinitely so that crowd could keep dancing to it. The technique was not only a major advancement in hip-hop DJing but led to the development of rap music. While the innovations that Flash discussed were introduced over 30 years ago, they are still considered standard DJing techniques today. Watch the full video below.
