Carrie Underwood breaks down during emotional performance of Cry Pretty as she returns to CMAs16/4/2018 Carrie Underwood returned to the stage for the first time since suffering from a fall late last year. The star put on an emotional performance at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas last night and showcased her new single Cry Pretty. At the end of the rendition she received a standing ovation before Keith Urban appeared on stage to help close her set with their duet of The Fighter. He told the 35-year-old: ‘You just knocked it out of the park.’
To which she replied: ‘Thank you for having me. I’m still shaking right now. Thank you.’ She hasn’t been seen at an event since the CMA Awards last November, where she co-hosted the show with Brad Paisley. There she put on a heartfelt performance that was in tribute to the 58 victims who were killed in the mass shooting at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival. Shortly after her appearance the star ended up in hospital after she fell and broke her write in her porch. She was also treated for a face injury which required more than 40 stitches. Carrie wrote a letter to her fan club in January where she opened up about her injuries. There she wrote: ‘I’m still healing and not quite looking the same. ‘I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful. I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.’ By Abigail Gillibrand
